Bus + Public Transport Projects

IRIS Visual Planning + Design offers a strong track record in preparing amenity assessments and setting the urban design framework for busway and public transport projects. This includes the planning phases of the Eastern and Boggo Road Busway Projects, the Greenlink Project for the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, and and a number of Bus Station projects for TransLink in South East Queensland. These projects interface with highly urban landscapes through to the cities outer suburbs.

Each Busway and Public Transport project has the potential to act as catalyst for transit oriented development and urban renewal. To maximise this potential requires a detailed knowledge of the urban fabric and the
most effective means of integrating the Busway into neighbouring environments.

Feasibility Study and Urban Design Framework

An Urban Design Framework and concept design for the Victoria Point Shopping Centre, and Morayfield bus stations as a part of a Feasibility Study for Translink. This has included a review of the existing site conditions including an analysis of built form, movement, scenic amenity and the urban character of the precinct, to ensure the station is designed to fit within its context and opportunities for revitalisation are realised. This process has involved a risk and multi-criteria assessment workshops, and consideration of a range of site and layout options. The team considered island platform, split and busway style layouts, as well as several combinations of each. Suzie was responsible for the challenging the design as it developed to ensure the best outcome for the precinct as a whole, and prepared urban design concepts for site. *

Planning Study and Concept Landscape Design

This planning study assessed the most effective means of integrating the Busway into neighbouring environments, with the goals of optimising local connectivity and providing passengers with easy and pleasant access to Busway facilities. This study included the development of landscape design concepts for the integration of the busway with the Eleanor Shonell Bridge and within Dutton Park. In particular, minimising impacts on significant vegetation, adjacent cemetery and sports fields. **
